House of Representatives

Australian House of RepresentativesHouse of Representatives is the name of legislative bodies in many countries and sub-national states. In many countries, the House of Representatives is the lower house of a bicameral legislature, with the corresponding upper house often called a “Senate”. In some countries, the House of Representatives is the sole chamber of a unicameral legislature.
The functioning of a house of representatives can vary greatly from country to country, and depends on whether a country has a parliamentary or a presidential system. Members of a House of Representatives are typically apportioned according to population rather than geography.

Missouri Election Results

Election results on USA flagThe United States presidential election of 2012 was the 57th quadrennial presidential election and took place on November 6, 2012. It saw the Democratic nominee, President Barack Obama and his running mate, Vice President Joe Biden successfully elected to a second term. Their major challengers were the Republican nominee and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and his running mate, Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin.
The election campaign saw four major debates: three presidential and one vice-presidential. Issues debated included the economy and jobs, the national deficit, social policy, immigration and foreign policy. Prior to the election, the media typically saw the election as too close to predict in advance, although statistical models, bookmakers and betting markets had Obama as a clear favorite to win.

concede

Young woman's concede at the mouthIn politics, a concession is the act of a losing candidate publicly yielding to a winning candidate after an election, when the overall result of the vote has become clear. Concession, per se, is entirely optional, and a candidate will sometimes refuse to concede defeat despite the vote count being against them, especially if they suspect electoral fraud. In that case the candidate would likely demand a recount of the votes or other investigations into the alleged fraud. Sometimes concession may be denied not because of any specific fraud allegations, but simply because of ill will accumulated over the campaign.

us map

Map of the United States of AmericaA U.S. state is a federated state of the United States of America that shares its sovereignty with the United States federal government. Since the admission of Hawaii as a state in August 1959, there have been fifty U.S. states. Because of the shared sovereignty between a U.S. state and the U.S. federal government, an American is a citizen of both the federal entity and of his or her state of domicile. State citizenship and residency are flexible and no government approval is required nor obtained to move between states, except for persons covered by certain types of court orders (e.g., paroled convicts and children of divorced spouses who are sharing custody). States are further subdivided into counties or county-equivalents, which may or may not be assigned some individual governmental authority. Kentucky, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Virginia use the official title of Commonwealth rather than State.
