JK RowlingJoanne “Jo” Rowling /ˈroʊlɪŋ/, OBE FRSL (born 31 July 1965), best known by her pen name J. K. Rowling, is a British novelist, best known as the author of the Harry Potter fantasy series. The Potter books have gained worldwide attention, won multiple awards, and sold more than 400 million copies. They have become the best-selling book series in history, and been the basis for a series of films which has become the highest-grossing film series in history. Rowling had overall approval on the scripts and maintained creative control by serving as a producer on the final instalment.

Super Bowl

Super Bowl SetThe Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL), the highest level of professional American football in the United States, culminating a season that begins in the late summer of the previous calendar year. The Super Bowl uses Roman numerals to identify each game, rather than the year in which it is held. For example, Super Bowl I was played on January 15, 1967, following the 1966 regular season, while Super Bowl XLVIII will be played on February 2, 2014, following the 2013 season.

Philip Seymour Hoffman

Philip Seymour HoffmanPhilip Seymour Hoffman (July 23, 1967 – February 2, 2014) was an American actor and director. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for the 2005 biographical film Capote, and received three Academy Award nominations as Best Supporting Actor. He also received three Tony Award nominations for his work in the theater. In 2014, Hoffman died unexpectedly in New York City at age 46.

Joe Namath

Joe Namath New York JetsJoseph William “Joe” Namath (/ˈneɪmɨθ/; born May 31, 1943), nicknamed “Broadway Joe” or “Joe Willie”, is a former American football quarterback. He played college football for the University of Alabama under coach Paul “Bear” Bryant and his assistant, Howard Schnellenberger, from 1962–1964, and professional football in the American Football League (AFL) and National Football League (NFL) during the 1960s and 1970s. Namath was an American Football League icon. He played for that league’s New York Jets for most of his professional football career, and finished his career with the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1985.

Puppy Bowl 2014

Husky puppy with an inverted bowlThe Puppy Bowl is an annual television program on Animal Planet that mimics an American football bowl game similar to the Super Bowl, using puppies. Shown each year on Super Bowl Sunday, the show consists of footage of a batch of puppies at play inside a model stadium, with commentary on their actions. The first Puppy Bowl was shown on February 6, 2005. The puppies featured in the Puppy Bowl are from shelters. The Puppy Bowl is the inspiration for Hallmark Channel’s own Kitten Bowl first aired in 2014.

Michael Strahan

During his tenure with the Giants, Strahan set a record for the most sacks in a single season in 2001, and won a Super Bowl in his final season in 2007. After retiring from the NFL, Strahan became a media personality. He is currently a football analyst on Fox NFL Sunday, and he also serves as co-host on the television morning talk show Live! with Kelly and Michael alongside Kelly Ripa. He starred in and produced the short-lived Fox sitcom Brothers and appeared as host for Pros vs. Joes alongside fellow Fox football analyst Jay Glazer. On February 1, 2014, he was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Gabby DouglasGabrielle Christina Victoria “Gabby” Douglas (born December 31, 1995) is an American artistic gymnast. As a member of the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team at the 2012 Summer Olympics, she won gold medals in both the individual all-around and team competitions. Douglas is the first woman of color and the first African-American gymnast in Olympic history to become the individual all-around champion, and the first American gymnast to win gold in both the individual all-around and team competitions at the same Olympics as well as being the only American All-Around Champion to win multiple gold medals, thus far. She is also the first all-around champion to not medal in an individual event since women’s gymnastics was added to the Olympics in 1952.
