The following is a list of female American football players that have played in either college football, the professional women’s leagues (Independent Women’s Football League, Women’s Football Alliance, and Women’s Spring Football League), the Legends Football League, and the Continental Indoor Football League (the only professional men’s league to have hired multiple female players). Notable women who presently play or have previously played American football are included on this list. Almost all women who have crossed over onto predominantly male football teams have done so by playing placekicker or holder. Both positions are generally protected from the full contact generally present in American football.
