Zoe Yadira Saldaña Nazario (born June 19, 1978), known as Zoë Saldana or Zoe Saldana (/sælËdænÉ/ sal-DAN-É), is an American actress and dancer. She had her breakthrough roles in the films Center Stage (2000) and Crossroads (2002). She later gained prominence for her roles as Anamaria in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), Nyota Uhura in Star Trek (2009) and its sequel Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), Neytiri in James Cameron’s Avatar (2009) and its upcoming sequels, and Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014).
