Sugar Bowl 2014

Sugar bowlThe 2014 Sugar Bowl is a college football bowl game to be played on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The 80th annual Sugar Bowl, it will feature the #11-ranked Oklahoma Sooners of the Big 12 Conference and the #3-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide of the Southeastern Conference. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN at 8:30 PM EST. It is one of the 2013–14 bowl games that will conclude the 2013 FBS football season. It is sponsored by the Allstate insurance company and is officially known as the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Winter Classic

Winter Classic 2012The NHL Winter Classic is an event held by the National Hockey League (NHL) on or around New Year’s Day in which a regular-season hockey game is played outdoors, in an area with a resident NHL team. The first Winter Classic was held in 2008 at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, New York between the Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins. The event featured only American teams for its first five years. The 2014 game featured its first Canadian team, as the Toronto Maple Leafs played against the Detroit Red Wings. To date, the Winter Classic has been contested only in the United States; a Canadian counterpart is the NHL Heritage Classic, which is held in Canada.
